Places to hold events or meet

  • Free Geek: many local user groups use the meeting room or classroom space here for free
  • Lucky Lab: the SE Hawthorne location is close to Free Geek, and popular for post-meeting socializing. The NW Quimby one is newer and bigger. Both have side rooms available for rent.
  • Jax Bar: the Linux Advanced Topics meetings take place in their side room. Seems like a good presentation space.
  • Bar Vendetta: non-smoking bar in N. Portland, very friendly toward tech meetups, maybe a little out of the way for people who live in other parts of town
  • CubeSpace: a large co-working facility on SE Grand. Very close-in and easy to get to. They're interested in hosting local open source groups.
  • Portland State University
  • local companies with meeting rooms? (BarCamp uses Jive Software, Social Media Club started meeting at Wieden & Kennedy). If you're with a company that has meeting space to share, leave a note here.
